26.11.2020. Voodoo Rooms. Edinburgh.

The Haggis Horns are an eight piece live funk extravaganza combining heavy breakbeat funk, soul, hip-hop and afrobeat with the virtuosity of trained jazz musicians. The members have performed and recorded with many top artists including: The Cinematic Orchestra, Lou Donaldson, Nightmares on wax, Roots Manuva, Mark Ronson, Stuart Zender (Jamiroqui’s bassist), Corinne Bailey-Rae, Snowboy, Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), Odyssey, Martina Topley-Bird, Lily Allen, Candie Payne, The New Mastersounds and Amy Winehouse. The Haggis horns are featured on the Legendary deep funk album “Keb Darge presents the New Mastersounds”. The First Haggis Horns single “Hot Damn! feat John Mccallum”, released on Leeds (UK) based First Word Records was immediately picked up by Mr Scruff and became Fat City Record’s (Manchester) record of the week. Following his lead, many other top DJ’s have been raving about the band and their debut album also titled “Hot Damn!”… It’s sounds have been igniting the dance floors of the world’s funk and soul clubs.

Lights Out By Nine play powerhouse rhythm and blues, and have developed a collection of their own original songs, which is commanding a growing amount of media attention. Their debut album was launched by Matt “The Cat” Baldasarri on the “Soul Bucket” radio show on WERS FM to a six million audience in Boston MA. The “Moving On” album was the first opportunity to highlight the song writing ability of LOBN.

The band continued on a musical journey which has seen them develop their soul and blues influences through the years, producing two further studio albums, “Good Morning Mr Universe” and “Make Your Own Luck”, which were top 4 radio hits in America, two live appearances on BBC Radio 2 on the Paul Jones show, and numerous venue, festivals and support appearances with legendary names such as AWB. But, in keeping with the title of their debut album LOBN are indeed ‘moving on’, and have emerged in 2014 with a fresh new sound which includes and embraces the New Orleans genre of Soul Funk Music.

As part of that process the band bade a fond farewell to founder band member Al Hughes in 2013 to enable him to focus on his solo blues career and it is a great pleasure to welcome a long time friend and well established soul and blues man John Frame. The band once again, welcomes back Arthur Cook to follow the inimitable Ronnie Dalrymple behind the drum kit. LOBN arrive with a refreshed set list, and a revived band line up.
